During the CIOR IBM in Edinburgh, there is a planned “voluntary” CIOMR day on Tuesday, November 26th. There will be no formal meeting of CIOMR. However, the UK has sponsored an educational day, and associated events cited in the announcement. Note, the response must be delivered by October 14th.
We envision the IBM medical element running over the following dates:
1. 25th November 2019 – delegates arrive and move to their hotels: in the evening there is a reception at Edinburgh castle.
2. 26th November 2019 – CIOMR UK study day presenting on:
a. The challenge of recruitment into a Specialist Unit (covering neurosurgery, urology etc) and how certain of the DCAs are utilized within the Unit and the wider DMS.
b. The developing relationship between the NHS and the MOD – with particular reference to the UK employer support scheme and the incentives being delivered for reservists.
c. The UK Honorary Colonel system and the purpose of such appointments.
d. The role of the Regional Field Hospital.
Please note that the programme is being formalised so may include additional elements which we are continuing to scope – it will still occur over one day. In the evening on Tuesday 26th November 2019 there will be a reception and dinner on the Royal Yacht Brittania.
3. 27th November 2019 – dispersal.
So we are proposing a very short meeting – but with some exciting opportunities. The warning order recently issued by CIOR details the costs and additional information.
